Director of Business Development. Previously at TechStars, where he helped create Boston Startup School. Former tech-focused private equity investor with a law degree. Has lots of brains, so wears many hats.
Director of Engineering, Operations. Held many roles such as Senior IT Manager, Unix Sysadmin, QA Lead, pyrotechnican and downhill mountain bike racer. Solver of engineering trickiness, haver of great stories.
Software Engineer. Previously at Humedica, Cat saved lives by building tools for doctors. To decompress, she moved to Hollywood and became the only actor in L.A. with three STEM degrees from MIT. The fact that she can model human trust networks was very helpful in LA.
Engineering Intern, student at Columbia University. Previously used Pig to process financial data feeds; now contributing open-source tools back to the community to repent. Hopes to make data processing in the cloud as convenient as the Unix utilities of his forefathers.
Engineering Intern, Canadian, student at University of Waterloo. Thomas worked with Mortar in 2012, but couldn't stay away for longer than one semester, and neither could we.
Senior Software Engineer, previously at Etsy.com and research engineer at UPenn. Has worked on high availability payment systems and human behaviour simulations used to predict terrorist attacks. Hiker of backwoods trails. Collector of vintage computer mice.
Marketing Intern. Senior at NYU's Gallatin's School of Individualized Study, where she's writing a thesis entitled "Big Data and its Effects on People". Loves the startup community and is drawn to data, travel, and self-quantification. Prior to Mortar, Sophia snuck into a GigaOm conference, where she acquired 6 Hadoop t-shirts.
